Making fragmented data speak — so funders could see the whole system.

Supporting nonprofits in South Africa to solve social challenges & increase employment

SEF and its implementation partners were running parallel mapping efforts with no shared infrastructure — each organization seeing only its own slice of a complex system. Catalist served as the connective hub: pulling in data from Miro workshops, enabling bulk curation in Airtable, and pushing the combined map to Kumu for interactive visualization.

Outcomes
  • Collaborative systems map revealed intervention points no single org could see alone
  • Vision care delivered to 34 students; 3,165 literacy packs distributed in one coordinated pilot
  • Additional funding secured because funders could see the collaborative approach clearly

"Catalist's ecosystem mapping platform was so user-friendly that our community was able to immediately create profiles and add 50 regenerative projects, events, and connections to our ecosystem map in 30 minutes — without asking any questions."
